چکیده

Next to leading order corrections to the SU(3) × SU(3) Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner relation (GMOR) are obtained using weighted QCD Finite Energy Sum Rules (FESR) involving the pseudoscalar current correlator. Two types of integration kernels in the FESR are used to suppress the contribution of the kaon radial excitations to the hadronic spectral function, one with local and the other with global constraints. The result for the pseudoscalar current correlator at zero momentum is ψ5(0) = (2.8± 0.3)× 10−3 GeV, leading to the chiral corrections to GMOR: δK = (55 ± 5)%. The resulting uncertainties are mostly due to variations in the upper limit of integration in the FESR, within the stability regions, and to a much lesser extent due to the uncertainties in the strong coupling and the strange quark mass. Higher order quark mass corrections, vacuum condensates, and the hadronic resonance sector play a negligible role in this determination. These results confirm an independent determination from chiral perturbation theory giving also very large corrections, i.e. roughly an order of magnitude larger than the corresponding corrections in chiral SU(2) × SU(2). Combining these results with our previous determination of the corrections to GMOR in chiral SU(2) × SU(2), δπ, we are able to determine two low energy constants of chiral perturbation theory, i.e. L8 = (1.0 ± 0.3) × 10−3, and H 2 = −(4.7 ± 0.6) × 10−3, both at the scale of the ρ-meson mass. ∗Supported in part by MEC and FEDER (EC) under grant FPA2011-23596 and GV under grant PROMETEO2010-056 and BEST12, by NRF (South Africa), and by the Alexander von Humboldt Foundation (Germany).

Flavour-symmetry breaking of the quark condensate and chiral corrections to the Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner relation

The relation between the chiral quark condensate in QCD sum rules and chiral perturbation theory is clarified with the help of a low-energy theorem for the scalar and pseudoscalar correlation functions. It is found that the quark condensate should be identified with the non-normal-ordered vacuum expectation value of quark-antiquark fields. Utilising results on flavour SU(3) breaking of the quar...

Chiral corrections to the SU ( 2 ) × SU ( 2 ) Gell - Mann - Oakes - Renner relation 1

The next to leading order chiral corrections to the SU(2) × SU(2) Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner (GMOR) relation are obtained using the pseudoscalar correlator to five-loop order in perturbative QCD, together with new finite energy sum rules (FESR) incorporating polynomial, Legendre type, integration kernels. The purpose of these kernels is to suppress hadronic contributions in the region where they ar...

Pions at Finite Temperature from QCD Sum Rules

The temperature corrections to the current algebra Gell-Mann, Oakes, and Renner (GMOR) relation in SU(2)⊗SU(2) are investigated in the framework of QCD sum rules. There are no corrections at leading order in the quark masses. At the next to leading order we find corrections of the form mq T 2, which are small except near the critical temperature. As a by-product we obtain the temperature behavi...

Chiral symmetry, quark mass, and scaling of the overlap fermions

The chiral symmetry relation and scaling of the overlap fermions are studied numerically on the quenched lattices at 3 couplings with about the same physical volume. We find that the generalized Gell-Mann-Oakes-Renner relation is satisfied to better than 1% down to the smallest quark mass at m(0)a = 0.006. We also obtain the quark mass from the PCAC relation and the pseudoscalar masses. The ren...

Meson Properties in the 1 / N c - corrected NJL model

Properties of mesons are investigated within the Nambu–Jona-Lasinio model. We include meson-loop corrections, which are generated via a systematic 1/N c-expansion in next-to-leading order. We show that our scheme is consistent with chiral symmetry, in particular with the Goldstone theorem and the Gell-Mann Oakes Renner relation. The numerical part focuses on the pion and the ρ-meson sector. For...
